Objectives
This is an advanced Tajweed course that covers all Tajweed rules in an easy-to-understand manner. It begins by defining and explaining articulation sites and letter characteristics; you will learn from where and how to articulate each letter. You will also master the rules of the Noon Sakinah and the Meem Sakinah as well as the rules for medd (stretching) and waqf (pause and start). This level consists of a variety of theoretical and practical exercises, revisions, and exams that ensure your eligibility for the "Ijazah" License (the most advanced level of Quran recitation and memorization).
- Learn the theory and practice of all the Tajweed rules.
- Perfect the pronunciation of Quranic letters, syllables, words, and phrases.
- Recognize the acceptable and prohibited pauses and connections in the recitation.
- Recognize the relationships between letters when they follow each other.
- Study the motoon (classical poems composed by the founders of this knowledge).
- Discuss the important points of the different Qiraat (recitations).

The Qari level — recitation as worship and craft
The Qari level is the advanced stage of Quran recitation. By this point, the student already applies the seven noon rules, the three meem rules, qalqalah, and the levels of madd automatically. The work now is artistic and devotional: pace control, breath management, the shapes of the verses, and the calm of a recitation that draws the listener in. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Beautify the Qur'an with your voices, for indeed a beautiful voice increases the beauty of the Qur'an" (Sunan Abi Dawud 1468). The Qari Level course trains that beauty inside the rules — never outside them.
What the Qari level course covers
- Advanced tajweed review: the rare cases (sukut, imala, tashil, isymam, raum) and the practical places where each appears in the mushaf.
- Hafs 'an 'Asim — the canonical wajh: the standard Egyptian reading mastered in full, with the formal recognition of where Hafs allows two valid forms.
- Introduction to the seven qira'at: overview of the other six imams (Nafi', Ibn Kathir, Abu 'Amr, Ibn 'Amir, Hamza, al-Kisa'i) and the principle of al-qira'at al-mutawatirah.
- Tahqiq, tadwir, and hadr: the three speeds of recitation and when each is appropriate (taraweeh, tadabbur, daily wird).
- Voice and breath: diaphragm support, phrasing across verses, and the practical waqf rules a leading reciter must know.
- Performance portfolio: the student finishes the course by recording any one juz' of their choice and one half of juz' 'Amma in tartil tempo with verified tajweed.
How a Qari level lesson runs
Two 45-minute lessons per week, one-to-one with a teacher who already holds an ijazah in the recitation of Hafs 'an 'Asim. Each lesson includes a short recital from the student, micro-correction at the phrase level, and a fixed portion of new material from the seven-qira'at survey. Students at this level often record their lessons; teachers welcome it and add a short voice note after each session.
What comes after the Qari level?
Two natural progressions: (1) the Ijazah Program, which formalises the certificate of recitation; and (2) one of the secondary qira'at — students often choose Warsh or Qalun next, depending on their family or madhab background. Either path begins from a strong Qari Level finish.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be a hafiz to take the Qari level?
No, but you should be able to read any page of the mushaf fluently with correct tajweed. If you are not sure, the free trial lesson is a quick way to find out.
Can the Qari level be combined with memorisation?
Yes — many students pair it with the Hafez Program. The two reinforce each other: stronger tajweed makes memorisation faster, and memorisation reduces the cognitive load during tajweed practice.
Will I learn enough to teach?
The Qari level gives you the recitation skill; the Ijazah Program adds the formal chain of transmission (sanad) that is normally required to teach with authority. Most teachers complete both.
What if I want to lead taraweeh next Ramadan?
Tell the teacher in the first lesson. We sequence the recitation pace and the surahs you plan to lead so the course finishes on time. Book a free Qari level trial to plan it.
