Pricing
$10 USD per hour for any subject — Quran, tajweed, hifz, Arabic, or Islamic studies. The first session is a free evaluation meeting, and you only pay after a class you are happy with.
Our standard plan and what we recommend for everyone — the teacher works with one student so the full hour is dedicated to that student’s level, pace, and goals.
For two students studying together — usually siblings or spouses at a similar level. Total $15 per hour split between the two, not per student.
For three students from the same family or close friends. We rarely run group classes and only when students are at the same level — we believe one-to-one gives much better progress, but the option is there if you prefer it.
Group classes work best when every student is at the same level, joins on time, and is equally focused. In practice that is rare — one student arriving late means the others lose part of the hour, and a faster student often has to wait for a slower one. With one-to-one, every minute is yours: the teacher adjusts the pace to your child or to you, and progress is much faster. We are happy to run pair or group classes if you specifically ask, but we will always recommend the private plan first.
How payment works
We keep this simple — no contracts, no auto-renewals, and no hidden charges. Here is exactly how we bill.
You pay via PayPal or Wise (formerly TransferWise). We send a clear invoice each month with the amount, the number of hours, and the period it covers.
After your first lesson, if you are happy and want to continue, we send the invoice for the first month and you pay it before the next class. Payments are made one month in advance from then on.
The first meeting we have is an evaluation, not a class — we listen to the student, recommend a teacher, and discuss the plan. We do not charge anything for it. If after the first real class you decide the classes are not right for you, you are not charged for that class either. This rarely happens, but we want you to feel completely safe trying us.
Our $10/hour rate is the rate the teacher receives — it does not include payment-processor fees. PayPal charges us for receiving and converting the money, so each invoice may add up to $5 (often less, depending on the amount) to cover that. Wise transfer fees vary by country. We do not mark up the rate to hide these fees inside it like some companies do — we keep the teaching rate honest and show the transfer fee separately.
Our rate is already at the lower end of what qualified Al-Azhar teachers earn. We would rather quote one fair price up front than inflate the rate and then offer fake discounts on top.
We do not record the classes. Instead, the teacher submits a written class report after every session — what was covered, your child’s progress, and the next focus. Each completed class is then counted toward the teacher and deducted from the guardian’s balance, so you always know exactly what you are paying for.
Tell us about the student, meet a teacher, and decide from there. Nothing is charged until after your first real lesson.
Book your free evaluationWaraqa pricing is intentionally simple. Every subject — Quran recitation, Tajweed, Quran memorization (Hifz), Arabic language, Islamic Studies — costs $10 USD per hour for one-to-one online classes. There is no signup fee and no per-subject upcharge. The first session is a free evaluation, and you only start paying after a class you are happy with.
We chose one price for one honest reason: education should not feel like a phone contract. Bundling "premium" tiers, "VIP" teachers, or "trial credits" creates friction that pushes families toward the wrong product. By offering a single rate, every Waraqa learner sits in front of the same Al-Azhar trained teachers, with the same written class report and the same monthly follow-up.
Most online Quran academies bundle "premium" tiers that quietly cost two or three times more. We removed the tiers. The same Al-Azhar trained teachers, the same written class report after every session, the same monthly follow-up call — for $10 / hour. You pay only for lessons that actually happened, and unused balance rolls forward.
Payments are taken once a month against the lessons that already happened. If a sibling joins the next term, or if you would like to pause for Ramadan or exams, your teacher slot is held without any "reactivation" fee. Cancellations are simply that — you stop paying.
If you are comparing online Quran prices, ask three questions of every institute: Is the teacher qualified? Do I keep the same teacher? Is the price the final price? At Waraqa the answer is yes, yes, and yes. Read more on who we are and how we vet teachers.
